It’s fair to say that so far this year, my car has cost me an absolute fortune. January saw it requiring 2 new tyres, a new set of brake discs and pads at the front, a new battery and a full service, to the tune of £750 all in. Happy New Year.

It’s now come round to its MOT (which expires 17th May), and thus far I’ve identified that it needs rear brake discs and pads, 100,000 mile major service, timing belt change, couple of randomly blown bulbs changing out, a new dashboard instrument cluster and lord knows what else they find whilst taking it apart to do the above. It then needs to pass its MOT after all that.

Conservative estimate: £850.

Ouch.
