It seems they changed how the post_nav_link() function worked resulting in some odd navigation options being presented at the bottom of the page. This has now been kludge-fixed until I can come up with something better. It's a theme issue rather than a WordPress issue (isn't it always?), but if anyone experiences a similar problem the page in question to look at is <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/posts_nav_link" rel="nofollow">this one!</a> Well, it was almost painless. K2 theme was the culprit or more specifically the sidebar manager. I'm back on widgets now after scouring a DB backup for the information I had in the SBM. Good things - text editors have "find" functions and "replace" functions for all the '' -> ' and \\n to \n DB crap. I hate it when things don't go well.
